Heidi Merrick

I can't get enough of Heidi Merrick'sSpring 2012 collection, seriously swoon worthy stuff. One day I hope to add one of her gorgeous pieces to my closet, she has to be one of my favorite designers of the moment.

One of my sponsors Emera Bags is having a sale on their lovely camera bags until December 7th. Take a peek and check 'em out, these minimal and nicely-designed camera bags would make an excellent gift.

Cute Little Printer

Oh my goodness, this little printer is so adorable! It prints out receipt sized lists of a variety of things and you can even print from your phone. Watch the video clip here to see how it works here. Eek! Very cute and well designed. It launches as a beta product in early 2012.

Lucky Boy Sunday

The whimsical quirk of the softies from the Copenhagen brand Lucky Boy Sunday is so refreshing, I love their variety of fun items.

(Reminded about them from Raneytown)

Music Monday: The Paper Kites

I hope that many of you had a nice extended holiday weekend. The Paper Kites out of Melbourne play mellow pretty music and also have music videos that are magical storytelling adventures. Here are two that are worth a watch, enjoy and happy Music Monday! I love the colorful feather fight in the first clip for the song, 'Featherstone' and the tin can telephone in 'Bloom' makes me smile. I am going to go buy their Woodland EP on iTunes.

Pretty Books Redesigned : Virginia Woolf

Have you been seeing the mega trend in redesigning covers for the classics? I enjoy every now and again reading on a digital reader, but beautiful books are not dead, that is for sure. I really love the way these Virginia Woolf books were designed by Angus Hyland for Penguin. Gorgeous.

Other redesigns I am digging are these, these beauties designed by Jillian Tamaki , we bought these for Christmas last year, these Fitzgerald redesigns, and these children's ones are on our wish list this year, can you tell I'm a fan of the classics?! (via > Kate > Jessica)

Thanksgiving Music Mix

Before I unplugged over the weekend, I wanted to share with you some songs that I felt fit the Thanksgiving holiday season. Many of the songs I chose are about the warm feeling of home and family, but a few others are also sprinkled in that remind me of this time of year. Hope you enjoy! This would be a great mix to play while hanging out in the kitchen and cooking it up. Do you have favorite songs centered around Thanksgiving? Hit up the comments with your favorites. Happy Thanksgiving and I hope you have a wonderful holiday and weekend!

Thanksgiving..

This is our first Thanksgiving all on our own and we are kind of excited about it! I am going to be pulling lots of things together last-minute and am inspired by these ideas. If you need some Thanksgiving ideas or even tips on how to carve a turkey, here you go!

1 : This year the plan is to artfully show our gratitude, I love Sally's decor & tree idea.
2 : This Turkey Veggie Platter is both hilarious and would be simple to execute.
3 : I love the idea of bringing nature indoors with these DIY pretty leaf votives.
4: How cute are these teepee treats!
5: Kelsey shares a link on how to carve a turkey right.

I also looked back on posts I've done over the years and remembered how much I loved this quote about gratitude:

"Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos into order, confusion into clarity... It turns problems into gifs, failures into success, the unexpected into perfect timing, and mistakes into important events. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today and creates a vision for tomorrow." - Melodie Beattie.

This was also a fun Thanksgiving time post! Wow, over four years ago.

*I have one more post I am putting together before I sign off, (hint: I hope to make up for missing Music Monday this week) but in the meantime Happy Thanksgiving and I wish you a lovely holiday.

A Clip for the Artists

A few days ago I got some new Faber Castell Pens to draw with, then I came across this video clip ad for them that is really clever and thought you might like it.

Lemlem Resort

Remember those really cool Lemlem scarves I posted about about a month ago?! Well, Lemlem just launched their resort collection photographed in Montauk, New York this week and it is full of fresh vibrant colors and absolutely lovely. Keeping an eye on fun resort wear as the weather starts to gets a little more gray and chilly makes me dream about a warm sunny tropical vacation. I also really love these quirky handmade cool Jute animals that would be a nice and creative talking piece addition to a space.

Quiet Morning in Polarn O. Pyret

The girls are playing nice and quietly this morning as they are rockin' their matching stripes from Polarn O. Pyret*. I am a huge fan of this Swedish brand, the quality is really top notch and I love their simple graphic styles. It is impressive to me that they have been around for 35 years (celebrating with a birthday sale) and are now expanding their wings in the U.S. with two new shops in New York City opening this week.

(*Polarn O Pyret sent these as a gift, but I only share things that I am passionate about, would normally purchase myself, and what I think you readers would like.)

Have a wonderful weekend!

It was a gray day today so I felt like signing off for the weekend all kinds of bright! I hope you will have a nice time relaxing over the next few days.

Book Love : New Martha Stewart Books

Martha Stewart recently came out with some new books, and it is a delight to see the variety of compiled ideas. Martha Stewart's Handmade Holiday Crafts has some wonderful DIY project ideas perfect for holidays around the year. Martha's Entertaining showcases some of Martha's best celebration and entertaining moments.

Danielle Kroll

Danielle Kroll is a super talented designer/illustrator and I am really drawn to her "What I Wore Today" painting series that she catalogs on her blog. The cool thing, Danielle's other work in her portfolio is equally as impeccable, really top notch stuff. Some of my favorite pieces she has designed are this, this and this! Wow.

Happy Pencils Music Video

This stop motion clip featuring happy colored pencils is magical, and definitely worth the three minutes to watch. It was created by Jonathan Chong aka VJ Dropbear for the Melbourne based artist Hudson for the track 'Against the Grain'. You can download this song for free on Hudson's Facebook page. The clip is getting some serious buzz around the web, and I felt it was rad enough to share again. Have a look, I think you may like it.

Unexpected Surprises

Photographer and sculptor Scarlett Hooft Graafland's work is breathtaking! I love that she shares unique photographs of places around the world including lava fields in Iceland and salt flats in Bolivia with a beautiful sculptural twist. Currently her work is exhibiting at the Huis Marsielle in Amsterdam and she shared a quote (included in the photo above) about making great ideas happen that especially resonated with me.

Sponsored Post : Roasted Tomato Soup with Truvia

When the weather gets chilly, I like to make big batches of yummy soup for dinner. We especially love leftovers the next day which always share an added bonus of bursting flavors. This Roasted Tomato Soup recipe is definitely on the healthier side not using any heavy cream and also substituting sugar for the stevia-based sweetener Truvia. What has been your experience with Truvia? I'd love to hear about any recipes you have tried. See the other Truvia recipes we created here. Find the soup recipe below.

Cool Clay Gift Tags

It is a little early for me to start talking about gift tags but I came across these beauties by M Stetson on their blog and ordered a batch right up this morning. I think they are very simple and lovely. Find all types of their cool tags here.

Music Monday: Youth Lagoon

I recently purchased music for our trip last week and the song, Cannons by Youth Lagoon is one of the songs I keep playing on repeat along with a few other tracks. Twenty-one year old Trevor Powers out of Boise is the man behind the sound. I think this quote on his record label Fat Possum describes his unique sound best, "hidden beneath the melodies is a voice that is eerie yet nostalgic." Happy Music Monday!

Interested in downloading a mp3? Find songs from The Year of Hibernation here*. I also really dig the track 'Afternoon' from the album.

Sponsor Highlight : Modern Palm

Here are some of my favorite things in one of my sponsor's shop Modern Palm. Check them out, there are lots of great gift ideas. They are a returning sponsor from last year, so be sure to check out my picks from last year too.

Yoga Breakdancing

I don't quite get the broken glass in this clip, but this guy called Arthur Cadre has some really sweet moves. It is kind of like yoga breakdancing. It is worth a watch, and made me smile this morning.

Sponsored Post : Truvia Recipe #2

This month I'm sharing 3 recipes we made for Truvia. You can read more about why we wanted to try Truvia here. This is recipe number two, a Chicken Curry Wrap that is pretty healthy and turned out super yummy. Tell me about Truvia, have you ever tried it? What are your thoughts? Find the recipe below.

Inspiration Everywhere...

Over the weekend we flew out to Indiana to visit family. We are here for a few more days, but so far I am inspired by interesting tidbits of things we've seen along the way. We are enjoying the slower pace, the peaceful and changing nature of corn fields, and the Amish people living their simple lives. There is a sign on this small town's Main Street that says, "Embrace the Pace". It made me think about the variety of ebb and flow moments we can have throughout life and how important it is to remember to embrace wherever or whatever we are.

Jeremy Paul Beasley

Jeremy Paul Beasley does amazing work, I am especially drawn to his hand lettered typography.

Speaking Digitally : Up by Jawbone

Jawbone updated their site about Up which is something I have had my eye on for months and is currently resting at the tippity-top of my wish list right now. It is a revolutionary sensor band you wear that tracks your daily activity including your sleep, meals, and exercise and it is supposed to link seamlessly with your iPhone, iPad, or iPod. It also has social media features so you can collaborate with friends etc. It is $99 and I can't wait to see one in person. I like that it is a simple design so it seems like it won't get in your way too much. Is Up something you would try or use?

*Update : My husband and I both purchased these and then returned them a few days later because we were bummed that they did not have as many features as we had hoped. We prefer using our phones Nike+ for workouts and My Net Diary for food tracking. I also should have remembered that since I don't like wearing a watch, that I would not like wearing this band either. Ah well.

I Believe I Can Fly - Flight of the Frenchies

If you are an adrenaline junkie or outdoor lover, you will want to see this preview clip for a documentary about these daredevil skyliners. It made me jump up in my seat, yikes!

If you are scared of heights, (I am slightly and was okay) this may not be for you. French filmmaker Seb Montaz is coming out with a documentary (on 11.11.11) about Skyliners and the cinematography is surreal. What a rush that would be! Would you do it? What is the craziest thing you've done? I wonder if they were inspired by the Frenchman Philippe Petit from Man on a Wire?

This clip that Seb Montaz about the beauty of the French and Italian alps is also absolutely beautiful too! Ah, a trip to the Alps sounds really great about now.

Sponsored Post : Truvia Recipe

My husband has a hard time digesting sugar, rotten card he has been dealt, but c'est la vie. He will often go on extended sugar-free kicks and we also look for ways to side-step sugar with alternatives, and boy have we tried quite a few. One that we've been curious about is the Stevia based Truvia. Have you heard of it, and tried cooking with it?

Since we were interested in trying it out Martha Stewart and Truvia sponsored me to come up with three tasty recipes to share with you this month. First up is a delicious Citrus Berry Salad, which turned out delicious! I'd love to hear your stories if you have also tried Truvia. See the recipe below!
